Game Of Thrones Winner: “Valar Dohaeris”

Guys, who’s ready for Season 3? You know, with the betrayals of the Starks, and the Wildling stuff and the arrivals of some of my favorite characters? I think we should all be psyched about it.

It was fun to jump in again, and I’m really excited about rewatching this season. For the next ten weeks, on Mondays, we’ll be declaring said winners again. It’s going to be great. (It’s also going to keep me on a schedule.) Anyway, who’s this weeks winner? It’s hard to pick because this is a very talky episode where not a lot happens. (After season 6, I feel like I’m going to feel that way about every episode, but you know, whatevs.

I’m going to go with Maergary as The Winner here.

Maergary

She begins her charity work in this episode, scores a few points against Cersei and has some of her best fashion moments. Not that she wasn’t ever perfectly dressed, but you know, I love her stuff this season especially.

Runner up goes to Barristan Selmy, who saves Dany’s life, because Bad Ass!

Missandei and Grey Worm Watch

Guys, we meet Missandei this episode! She’s translating for The Good Master while Dany is negotiating to purchase The Unsullied, also an unsullied with a voice I recognized stepped forward. I can’t say for sure that this is Grey Worm, but I’m making it so in my headcanon.

Sansa’s Agency Watch

Sansa agrees to trust Little Finger. This is a horrible idea, but at least it’s her own. Anyway, she doesn’t do much in this episode but we do see Shae deciding to fiercely protect her.

Arya Bad Ass Watch

No Arya in this episode.

Who Was Jaime a Dick To?

No one, Jaime is not in this episode. But Tywin and Tyrion are kind of dicks to eachother, and Cersei is a dick to Tyrion, and the Tyrells. And Joffrey is in the episode. So there’s plenty of Lannister brand awfulness to go around.

Robb Is A King And Kind Of Bad At It

Robb makes Catelyn a prisoner, after they find Jaime’s killing rampage, because…actually this is one of those few times that Robb is actually doing the right thing. It still sucks, like, on a personal level, but as a king, he’s king of got to do it this way.
