Game of Thrones Winner: The North Remembers

Wow season premiers are hard to pick winners for, because it’s either clear cut, or just kind of murky table setting. But I think I’ve managed to pick one for this episode and it might surprise you.

This week’s winner is Sansa!

Sansa Season 2

This means that we’ll basically be jettisoning “Sansa’s Agency Watch” this week, but basically, she manages to save someone’s life, continue to hold her own in her battle against Joffrey’s crazy, and hey, even has a sweet little moment with her future husband, when Tyrion offers her condolences on the loss of her father.

So, Lady Sansa Stark, the bravest little girl in all of the seven kingdoms, congratulations on this win.

Runner up goes to Bran, who wargs into his wolf for the first time. This is a big deal, but I do really like celebrating when Sansa does stuff at this point, so Bran gets downgraded to second place.

Sorry Bran.

Missandei and Grey Worm Watch

Nopedy, nope nope. I mean, I know we’re a season away from them, but I forgot how dull the Dany stuff is at this point. They’re in the desert, she can’t feed the dragons. WE GET IT.

Sansa’s Agency Watch

Sufficiently covered.

Arya Bad Ass Watch

Arya is not in this episode. Arya free episodes are never as good as episodes with Arya.

Who Was Jamie a Dick To?

Jamie was a dick to Robb! Who was the only character he interacted with. Robb, of course threatened him with wolf murder, because when you have a direwolf, that’s the best way to threaten someone.

Robb is A King And Kind of Bad At It

Umm, not a lot to say in this feature. Robb is actually OK at being a king this episode. He stands up to his mother, he doesn’t let Jamie push him around. He does make one really, really bad decision though, and that’s sending Theon off to The Iron Islands to negotiate with his father. Bad Call Robb!

  1. Robb’s also a bad host to a high value prisoner. Jaime’s health and well-being should be a concern, since if the Kingslayer catches a cold and dies of exposure, Sansa (and theoretically Arya, if the Lannisters had her) would be in dire straits.

    Robb!

For all of the complaints about season 5 Dorne, at least Prince Doran knew how to keep a member of a great house in comfortable captivity.
